The María Elena Walsh House Museum was inaugurated

The House Museum will be an interactive space that recreates and reconstructs the life and work of the great singer, writer, poet and composer from Buenos Aires.

This Monday the opening act of the Maria Elena Walsh House Museum in the district of Morón, the place where the great singer, writer, poet and composer from Buenos Aires was born. The inauguration was attended by national, provincial and municipal authorities.

The property was acquired by the State and, through joint management between the Ministry of Culture of the Nation; the Cultural Institute of the Province of Buenos Aires and the Municipality of Morón, was restored and turned into a Museum.

It is located on Calle 3 de Febrero 547, in the town of Villa Sarmiento, and from this Monday it is open to the entire community. In this house, the artist grew up with her brothers and her parents, Enrique Walsh and Lucía Monsalvo, until 1943, when they moved to a nearby apartment, in Ramos Mejía.. The house had been uninhabited for several years and belonged to a family that timely bought it from the Walsh.

In 2021, the Municipality of Morón bought the property with funds transferred by the Ministry of Culture of the Nation, based on an agreement signed between Minister Tristán Bauer and Mayor Lucas Ghi, and it was incorporated into the State heritage. Regarding the museological part, it will be in charge of the Undersecretariat of Sociocultural Promotion belonging to the Cultural Institute of the Province of Buenos Aires.

The House Museum will be an interactive space that recreates and reconstructs the life and work of the Maria Elena Walsh. It was thought from techniques aimed at facilitating and allowing the active interrelation between the visitor and the place, mobilizing all their senses, as well as the different physical, mental and emotional mechanisms. Likewise, it will be possible to take guided tours and visit the different sectors of the house, which will have interactive and playful proposals.
