The public image of Boris Becker has not only been scratched since his prison sentence. But “Bobbele” still has a well-known fan: tennis colleague Andrea Petković.
Boris Becker has made many enemies in recent decades. But the tennis legend can still count on a few companions. Like tennis player Andrea Petković, who defended “Bobbele” in the NDR 90.3 podcast “Feel Hamburg”.
Andrea Petković defends Boris Becker
“He was one of the most generous ex-tennis players I’ve seen,” said the former player about Becker. “Whenever I needed advice or when I had questions, he was very generous with his time. He always sat down with us, always had coffee with us to share his experiences,” said Petković.
Her loyalty is therefore “full with Boris Becker”, according to the 35-year-old, who herself had to struggle with injuries and setbacks during her career.
“I would defend Boris with my life,” said Petković. Presumably not all of Becker’s former companions would express themselves in the same way as she did.
Not everyone is sympathetic
The documentary “Boris Becker: The Rise and Fall of a Legend” (runs August 4, 2023 on Paramount+) is currently causing a stir. It not only expresses Becker’s former partners – Alessandra Meyer-Wölden and his wife Sharlely Becker – but also lawyers who had to do with the tennis star.

A lot of drama, a broom closet and today great love: Boris Becker and his wives
“Boris came in and he was very pretentious. I said to him, ‘Boris, you may have been the best in your seat, but now you’re in mine,'” recalled Samuel Burstyn, Barbara Becker’s former attorney , who legally represented Boris’ first wife in the divorce.
