The cult classic “American Psycho” is getting a comic book sequel

The comic has the approval of the story’s original novelist, Bret Easton Ellis.

Los Angeles-based comic book publisher Sumerian is preparing a comic series based on the 2000 cult classic. American Psychostarring Christian bale like the iconic madman Patrick Bateman.

The four-issue comic series, due out later this year, will have a dual narrative, one that shows a different perspective on Bateman’s murder spree (with a notable “twist”), and another that reveals an arc. modern with “surprising connections to the past.” It was created as a sequel to the 2000 film (which itself had an unsuccessful on-screen sequel).

What will the American Psycho comic be about?

The thriller series will focus on “an entirely new psychopath as social media-obsessed millennial Charlie (Charlene) Carruthers falls into a violent downward spiral. Drug-fueled parties lead to bloodshed when Charlie leaves a trail of bodies on his way to discover the truth about her dark nature.

Sumerian reached a deal for the derivative rights to the film with producer Pressman Films. The company says the deal included the rights to use Bale’s likeness and that the pact was approved with the original novelist of the story, Bret Easton Ellis.

The story comes from Michael Calero (Quested) with art by Piotr Kowalski (The Witcher) and color of brad simpson (Kong of Skull Island).

American Psycho #1 will be released in comic book stores and online on October 11, 2023. Series writer and Massive Publishing founder Michael Calero will be at San Diego Comic Con discussing the project from his booth on the floor. major.
