Dog Day: 5 movies to watch on Netflix

Every July 21 in different countries celebrates the world dog day. This global anniversary was created in 2004, motivated by the immeasurable importance of these animals in the day to day of human beings and the need to put an end to animal abuse.

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 70% of dogs in the world are homeless. Currently there are approximately 300 million dogs in the world.

To celebrate dogs, here are five movies from assorted genres available on Netflix that have them as protagonist.

A dog tries to discover its purpose in life as it goes through different owners. Through various reincarnations such as Toby, Bailey and Buddy, the same dog will have the opportunity to live three different lives and thus discover the purpose of his existence alongside humans. Directed by Lasse Hallström, it stars Britt Robertson, Dennis Quaid, KJ Apa, Josh Gad, Peggy Lipton and Juliet Rylance.

Two brothers named Carter and Frankie find a stray dog ​​and bring it home, but their workaholic mom won’t let her kids have pets. This film is directly based on the book Dog Gone: A Lost Pet’s Extraordinary Journey and the Family Who Brought Him Home written by the brother-in-law of the protagonist of this story, Pauls Toutonghi, which, in turn, was based on a true story located in 1998, the year Fielding Marshall lost his dog.
