With more than 252 million records sold, Taylor Swift is one of the most successful artists in the world today. Only last year did she occupy all ten places in the US top ten charts at the same time, her album “Midnights” was streamed more often on the music streaming service Spotify within a day than any previous album. And her streak of success is not abating: ticket sales for her planned “The Eras” tour in 2024 are currently dominating the headlines.
Because although the advance sale of their tickets for the European part of the tour is only available to selected, registered fans, the rush for the hotly contested tickets was so great in some countries that it had to be stopped – an overload of the ticket system, as had already happened in the USA a year earlier.
The hype surrounding Taylor Swift is beyond any dimension
But the state of emergency is not only in the millions of “Swifties” worldwide who are hoping to get a ticket for one of the 131 concerts, but also in the local economy – albeit in a positive sense. Because the tour has already made a lasting contribution to local economic growth at the “The Eras” concerts currently taking place in various US cities. As reported by the Common Sense Institute, “Taylor Swift’s entire US tour could generate $4.6 billion in consumer spending.” That is more than the GDP of 35 countries.
So it’s safe to say that everything the “Anti-Hero” singer picks up turns to gold. Taylor Swift did it. She is at the top of the career ladder and can look back on a unique career with which she is writing music history. Her key to success: lots of talent, plenty of courage and crazy ambition.
