Not for nothing Nebbia was impressed by the documentary “Zappa”, largely dedicated to telling how the leader of The Mothers of Invention faced only so much a leonine contract with Warner, in addition to denouncing the censorship in the US Congress. Even this struggle influenced his daughter, Miranda Nebbia, who after studying film became a professor in History and two years ago is totally dedicated to researching the evolution of copyright.
Nebbia has precisely fallen into the new forms of censorship in the times of political correctness, which brings us to his brand new book “The letters of Nebbia”, entrusted to him by the University of Cordoba. “They asked me to include 100 lyrics of my songs from my entire discography. I ended up selecting 268, which is just a quarter of all the topics I wrote. They are in chronological form, and with notes on how I wrote them, or even on how a song like ‘The King Wept’ from 1967 was on the censorship blacklists of the time, but today it is sung by children in some kindergartens. In my selection there are not only the hits, but also many songs that for me, personally, meant something special, but were not very popular. And I did not stop for a second to meditate if any lyrics can be problematic or not for these times when anyone can annoy someone for absurd reasons. For a long time people have been criticizing topics such as “Who wants to hear that hears” with delusional arguments. That is censorship, and unfortunately it causes self-censorship in some artists, but that is not my case. But that now matters more than art. It is enough to point out the great controversy about those who got off the boats, the Indians or the jungle. The inspiration for the Mexicans who came out of the Indians came from a talk in a bar with a drunken Mexican who told it between great laughter, and never bothered anyone anywhere ”.

The book “The Letters of Nebbia” is a great example of Litto’s absolute creative freedom. “I asked them that I wanted the book to include an album, but it is not an album of the songs cited in the book, but an instrumental CD of my own journey or mental film as a musician, it is called ‘Notebooks of sound notes’ and it has themes with titles like “Scaramouche”, for the classic swordsman film with Stewart Granger ”.
In the same instrumental vein with relaxed “chill out” themes, the other new album that emerged from Nebbia’s cinephilia was conceived, “Notebooks of French cinema of the ’60s”. “It is inspired by the impact that seeing films by Godard, Truffaut, Demy, Chabrol, Louis Malle or Melville had at the time. They are not necessarily covers, but themes of mine that evoke those images and sounds. My wife was also infected and painted a painting with that vocation, which is the cover of the album. And I also put together some shorts with a montage of files from that time that are designed to accompany the music in a show ”.
Nebbia will once again perform live in CABA to inaugurate the first dates of a new music venue, Club Berlin, a branch of the famous Madrid Gran Via bar that opens in December. And before Christmas Melopea will release an album with new songs from Nebbia and members of his dynamic rock band “Los reyes del falsetto”, which will have to be commissioned from Santa Claus.
