The original series was based on characters from the 1996 book of Candace Bushnell of the same title. Created by Darren Star, it ran for six seasons between 1998 and 2004 and was later made into two films that continued the story. It also inspired the 2013-14 prequel series. “The Carrie Diaries” by Amy B. Harris, who was a writer and co-producer on “Sex and the City”.
Over the course of the series, the show garnered seven Emmy Awards, including 2004 lead actress in comedy, Nixon’s supporting comedy actress in 2004, King’s comedy directing in 2002, and comedy series in 2001. She also won two SAG Awards for Comedy Ensemble (in 2002 and 2004) and a SAG Award for Individual Comedy Actress for Parker in 2001, among other accolades.
