In July 2020, a shooting in Hollywood attracted a lot of attention – the focus was on rapper Tory Lanez and his musician colleague Megan Thee Stallion. Now there is a long prison sentence.
Canadian rapper Tory Lanez (31, “Say It”) has been sentenced to ten years in prison for shooting at US rapper Megan Thee Stallion (28, “Body”). A court in California sentenced him on Tuesday. Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, shot the musician in Hollywood in July 2020. The case had caused a stir on social media.
A Los Angeles jury found Lanez guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the feet in December. The sentence was still pending. There was also a prison sentence of more than 20 years.
In April, the Grammy winner, whose real name is Megan Pete, wrote in an article for the US magazine “Elle” about the incident and the hatred she received from many when she accused Lanez. The 28-year-old later explained in the US magazine “InStyle” that she was putting her music on hold for a while and concentrating on her healing.
