The tablecloth between Meghan, Harry and the British royal family appears to have been cut. But the two still maintain close contact with two members: Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice. A difficult situation for Prince Andrew’s daughters.
When Duchess Meghan celebrated her 42nd birthday this year, the royal family held back congratulations. At least on their official social media accounts, they did not pay tribute to the Duchess with any post or tweet.
Eugenie and Beatrice: Princesses still close friends with Harry and Meghan
There is still radio silence between the Sussexes and a large part of the Royals. Only two members of the family remain close friends with Meghan and Harry: Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.
In his autobiography “Spare”, Harry describes how he and Meghan spent a lot of time in London with Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank. Among other things, he reveals that the four of them celebrated their last night of freedom at a Hollywood party in 2016 before the press got wind of Harry and Meghan’s relationship. And even today, seven years later, Eugenie (and also her sister Beatrice) remains loyal to the Sussexes. A difficult situation for Prince Andrew’s two daughters, as reported by “People”.
“All this drama with him and Meghan and falling out with the rest of the family has been really stressful for both of them. It’s hard to watch because they see both sides,” a source close to the princesses told the magazine. Eugenie and Beatrice would understand and live the “royal machinery” themselves, which is why they could not side with either side.
Harry often asks Eugenie for advice
The relationship between Prince William and Prince Harry in particular is considered to be broken. William, who is described by his brother as short-tempered, is aware of his role as heir to the throne, the source said. He “knows what his goal is and where he’s going to be, and that is to be king one day. William’s life revolves around his role and, of course, his family. But there’s a clear path for him and a future that will obviously very different from Harry’s. They have inherently different priorities and different perspectives.”

From Number Girl to Duchess: This is how Meghan has changed over the years
Royal expert Omid Scobie, who is said to be friends with Harry and Meghan, has already written about the close friendship between Harry and Eugenie. In “Finding Freedom,” he and co-writer Carolyn Durand describe the two as equally “loyal, honest, and very funny.” “Harry had always confided in his cousin when it came to the women in his life. Not only did he trust her implicitly, friends say she gives great advice and has always been ‘more than wise’ for her age,” reads it in the book. When Harry traveled to London for his father Charles’ coronation in May, he entered Westminster Abbey alongside Eugenie, Beatrice and their husbands. However, he did not exchange a word with his brother William.
And so Eugenie and Beatrice stand between the chairs. On the one hand there is the Royal Family, characterized by the sense of duty that one must have as a working royal. On the other hand, the “natural connection” (that’s what Scobie and Durand call it) with Prince Harry and, by extension, Duchess Meghan. A tricky situation for the royal sisters.
