Mick Jagger and Keith Richards: Hometown honors them with bronze statues

Mick Jagger and Keith Richards will now be in their hometown forever: The City of Dartfort has unveiled two large bronze sculptures.

In October 1961, two young men named Mick Jagger (now 80) and Keith Richards (now 79) met at Dartfort railway station in Kent. This meeting would later become one of the most enduring and commercially successful rock ‘n’ roll bands of all time – the Rolling Stones. The two music legends have now been immortalized forever in their hometown.

Bronze sculptures for the “Glimmer Twins”

The city on Wednesday (August 9) unveiled two bronze statues depicting Jagger and Richards in action. The Rolling Stones posted pictures of the artwork. The designer of the two life-size bronze sculptures is the well-known sculptor Amy Goodman. She captioned the images of the famous musicians “The Glimmer Twins.”

In the Instagram post, the band points to other features in Dartfort that indicate the origin of the band and the origin of the two Rolling Stones members. Accordingly, several streets in Dartfort are named after the band’s songs, such as a street called “Little Red Walk”, “Angie Mews” or the “Ruby Tuesday Drive”.

After meeting when they were 17 and 18, Richards and Jagger formed the Rolling Stones a year later. More than 60 years later, they are still on stage together and inspire fans worldwide with their music.
