Jumara Films, who has been working exclusively on nature and conservation documentaries for years, presents “Argentina Salvaje” together with the prestigious German production company Light & Shadow.
With the aim of publicizing a destination that had great natural wealth, the Light & Shadow producer chose Argentina, a country with 18 ecoregions, with a unique biodiversity, valuing the country in terms of nature. It is a documentary that had local production and in which the best wildlife and nature cinematographers from Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Brazil participated. In addition to the sequences filmed by the director himself, Christian Baumeister, whose previous work “Wild Andes” was awarded a Grammy.
The project was presented to the INCAA, setting a precedent in national cinema for making films entirely about wildlife and nature – or blue chip as they are known – made in Argentina by Argentines.
Jumara Films’ motto is “Conservation, part of knowledge” and its commitment as a producer is to be able to make Argentine fauna known, because only by knowing it can it be preserved. Each one from their place can do small actions (or omit them) to become aware of a fundamental aspect: the coexistence of humans with animals. On the other hand, they seek that all Argentines can know all the landscapes that make up our country and that is why they agreed so that it can be projected in all the INCAA spaces of the Country.
The feature film shows life stories of some species that live in our country, with their intimacies and problems. Everything is designed to show it in a way never seen before, but at the same time current environmental problems that are occurring in Argentina and that are not common in this type of production are shown on the screen. “Here we took a risk and were able to show some dramatic situations that our nature is experiencing, such as the fires in Iberá, and put these issues on the table. Unique images of nature, which highlight the importance of conservation and awareness of these events in Argentina”stands out Juan Maria Raggio, director of Jumara Films and President of Aves Argentinas.
The film represents almost the entire country, trying to cover every corner of Argentina. There were many National Parks visited, Provincial Parks and even private fields where they are dedicated to conservation and nature tourism. From the most important such as Iguazú NP, Los Glaciares NP or Talampaya NP, passing through the highland lagoons of Puna Jujeña, Bañado la Estrella in Formosa or the Pinturas River canyon in Santa Cruz.
Kenya Films, producer of Ricardo y el Chino Darín and Federico Posternak, has accompanied Jumara Films on its productions for more than 10 years. The first documentaries featured Ricardo’s voice and narration, as was the case with “El Ocaso del Maca Tobiano” a documentary that helped create a new National Park in Argentina, “Yaguareté the Last Frontier” or “Heroes of Conservation ”. Today they add the voice of Chino, with the same commitment and professionalism with which they have always worked together.
“Since I was a child I have always been passionate about documentaries about nature, wildlife and conservation in general. Throughout my life I have been able to participate in projects that have to do with conservation, disseminating issues that are important, and this time there is the opportunity to be the voice of a film that tells something very much ours: the species of animals in unique and unprecedented images, the behavior of these animals, everything in our country.” affirms the Chinese Darin. Also, it highlights the quality of the film and emphasizes each of the images achieved and that can be seen in the documentary. “I am really happy to be part of this project and to be able to tell Argentines how incredible our country is and all our fauna, which sometimes gives us the feeling that they are part of another world, but they are closer than we think. we imagine” concludes Darin.
On August 17, the preview of the film will take place at the Cultural Center of Science, CONICET space, “C3”, Godoy Cruz 2270 (CABA). Admission is free and free with prior registration. The entire Jumara Films team will be present. It will have the presence of the Voice of the film, Chino Darín and the Aves Argentinas association, which with its 107 years being the oldest, will represent other conservationist NGOs in the country. On August 30, it will premiere at the Gaumont cinema, Av. Rivadavia 1635 (CABA), and in other INCAA spaces in the country.
