The 19th Book Fair begins in Jujuy with nearly 200 proposals for all ages

A new edition of the Jujuy Book Fair, with the motto “The four elements on stage”, will begin on Tuesday, August 15 and will last for nine days in the downtown of the capital city, with a range of nearly 200 activities literary, cultural and educational for all ages.

Book presentations; talks and workshops; stagings; shows and plays; and the participation of writers from different provinces, among other novelties, are added to the program that can now be downloaded from the web feriadellibrojujuy.com.ar.

“We are going to be in a new space, which is quite a challenge, but it is the ideal place, because we return to the epicenter of the city,” said María Eugenia Jaldín, from the Organizing Commission, and stressed that the appointment will be in the Spanish Society of Jujuy, located six blocks from the central square of the province.

Jaldín explained that the doors will open next Tuesday the 15th, at 6:00 p.m., with a traditional musical intervention to the sound of erkes, and as part of “a very rich cultural program” that will take place throughout the different days.

“They are going to be some beautiful days of celebration, being also in August, which is when we celebrate our Pachamama, and that is why this year’s motto: the four elements on stage, with many of the activities referred to, so that each time we are more aware of the need to take care of ourselves and our land”, valued, on the other hand, Inés Pemberton, also a member of the Organizing Commission.

Regarding the program, Rodolfo Pacheco praised the theatrical programming and the accompaniment of the La Vuelta del Siglo Theater and the National Theater Institute, which will be facilitating “the presentation of representatives of the NOA theater.”

In this sense, for this occasion “a minimal corridor has been built with the Miter Theater, the Héctor Tizón Cultural Center and the El Pasillo Theater, where works that will also come from Córdoba and Buenos Aires will be presented,” Pacheco finally narrowed down.

As in each edition, the public will be able to visit the stands of publishers and bookstores in the province and the country, and meet again with writers from Jujuy, Salta, Tucumán, Catamarca, Córdoba, Santa Fe and Buenos Aires.

In relation to the slogan, the activities will be concentrated according to the “fire”, “air”, “earth” and “water” sectors in different spaces of the headquarters of the Spanish Society of Jujuy.

Through the “Manage the Future” program of the National Ministry of Culture, a special call was organized for children from the four regions of the province, so that they could participate in the proposals.

The Book Fair is sponsored by the National Ministry of Culture through the Support Program for National Book Fairs; of the government of Jujuy; the National Theater Institute; and the municipality of the capital, organized by Librería Horizonte and Producciones La Vuelta del Siglo.
