In the 14-page petition, Oher alleged that Sean and Leigh Anne Tuoh never adopted him. According to it, three months after Michael came of age, the couple tricked him into signing a document making them his guardian, giving them legal authority to do business in his name.
In addition, in the lawsuit, Oher claimed that the Tuohys used the mentorship to obtain millions of dollars in royalties from the film, which grossed more than $300 million, of which Michael received nothing.
The petition reads: “Since at least August 2004, Guardians have allowed Michael in particular and the public in general to believe that they adopted Michael and have used that falsehood to gain financial advantage for themselves and foundations. which they own or control. All monies obtained in this manner must, in good conscience and equity, be returned to and paid to Michael Oher.”
