Both had founded the company “A&M Records” with 200 dollars in a garage in Hollywood. They soon signed artists like Cat Stevens, Carpenters, Joe Cocker, Carole King, Styx, The Police and Supertramp, and later Janet Jackson and Bryan Adams, among others. In 1989 they sold the label to the Polygram group for almost $500 million.
