With the unanimous ruling by a California court of appeals which ensures that your claim shouldn’t have been rejected in lower courts, Robson and Safechuck may join their cases in a lawsuit against MJJ Productions and MJJ Venturesthe two companies that belonged to the musical star who died in 2009 and which they hold responsible for the alleged abuses suffered.
“The plaintiffs had every right to expect that the defendants would protect from danger entirely predictable of being left alone with Jackson”, assured the magistrates in their ruling.
“A corporation that facilitates the child sexual abuse by one of the employers cannot be excused from an affirmative duty to protect those minors for the sheer fact that this is property of the abuser”, added the three judges, and completed: “It would be perverse if there were no obligation when the defendant corporation has only one shareholder”.

Robson and Safechuck first filed their claims in 2013 and 2014but they were dismissed because the law in force at that time in California stipulated that the charges for sexual assault minors had to appear before the plaintiff turned 26 yearsage that both had exceeded.
When in January 2020 the law was modifiedboth men saw a new chance to pursue their case, but they got trial jury rejections in 2021. The argument on that occasion was that in the face of the death of Jackson the alleged victims could not hold their companies responsible for what happened.
With Friday’s verdict, their stories can be heard once and for all in a courtroom.
