The Congress Orchestra presents the concert “Canto a Bolivia”

The Congress Orchestra will present the concert “Canto a Bolivia” next Friday the 25th at 7:30 p.m., in the Hall of Lost Steps of the Legislative Palace (Avenida Rivadavia 1864).

With Weimar Arancibia as guest conductor, the Congress ensemble will offer a program made up of works by Bolivian composers Gustavo Navarre and Cergio Prudencio, and Argentine composers Gilardo Gilardi and Guillo Espel.

In addition to Arancibia, chief conductor of the Bolivian National Symphony Orchestra, as guest conductor, violinist Liz Loayza will also perform as a soloist.

Weimar Arancibia is a professor of orchestral conducting at the Plurinational Conservatory of Music in La Paz. With a PhD from Michigan State University, he was the founder of the contemporary music ensemble Caleidoscopio, and directed orchestras from the United States and Argentina.

Liz Loayza is director of the Bolivian Musicology Society. She has won international scholarships with professors from the Juilliard School of Music in New York. As a violinist, she includes chamber music with orchestral performances in her repertoire, with an emphasis on baroque music and world premieres of Latin American works.

Made up of about twenty string musicians and directed by maestro Sebastiano De Filippi, the Congress Chamber Orchestra is a stable musical organization that has 33 seasons to its credit and has been distinguished three consecutive times as the best chamber orchestra of the country by the Association of Musical Critics of Argentina.
