Caroline Frier on the new role in the Sat.1 series: She is happy about the role as a “cool doctor”

Caroline Frier can be seen in the Sat.1 series “Die Landarztpraxis”. In an interview, she reveals what she appreciates about her role as a doctor.

At Schliersee in Upper Bavaria, there was a lot of hustle and bustle in mid-August, not only because of the holiday season: a 75-strong team from the filmpool production company is creating the evening series “Die Landarztpraxis” for the Sat.1 station there. After two weeks of filming, a second block is planned for October. There will be a total of 60 episodes of 45 minutes each, which will be shown on TV from October 16, 2024.

Caroline Frier (40) takes on the leading role of the single country doctor Sarah König. “She opens up in the small village of Wiesenkirchen, but she’s actually a big city brat,” the actress explained on the sidelines of the shoot in an interview with spot on news. “She comes from Cologne, studied in Munich and then lived in Berlin. Of course, as a girl from Cologne, that suits me.”

Over time, her role has become more and more immersed in country life, including the Bavarian dialect. “We also filled many roles with Bayern, I didn’t understand anything on the first day and always needed a signal word, which I have to answer now,” Frier said with a laugh. “But I love this dialect and understand more and more.” She also has a connection to the region around 50 kilometers south-east of Munich. “I’m here for the fourth time. We already had a photo shoot and the pilot was also filmed here last November. I enjoy the idyll and like the traditional things with dirndls, lederhosen and pretzels. It seems that the world is still okay here.”

Tough doctor with a chaotic love life

Whether farmer, mountaineer or holiday guest – Sarah König deals with a wide variety of patients in her country doctor’s practice in fictional Wiesenkirchen. So not only the initial language barriers, but also the medical practices of her role became a challenge for Frier. “I had a lot of respect, especially at the beginning we shot a lot of medical stuff to establish Sarah as a doctor. But I was assigned a practicing doctor with whom I have since built up a super relationship of trust and who calmly and calmly takes care of everything shows.”

Frier is particularly pleased that the “Landärztin” is now starting work alongside established male colleagues such as the “Bergdoktor” when it comes to the doctor series. “Finally, a cool doctor is allowed to work. She brings the perfect mix. A tough woman who works in a focused manner in her job, but is also vulnerable, is in a way screwed up and doesn’t really get her private life under control.” In a feel-good series, love should not be missing and Sarah König is immediately caught between two men: her old friend, the village doctor Dr. Fabian Kroiß (Oliver Franck, 48), and mountain rescuer Max Raichinger (Alexander Koll, 43). “It will be exciting and there will certainly be two camps,” Frier suspects about the reactions to the love triangle. Filming with the two colleagues and also the film daughter Katharina Hirschberg (22) as Leo König did not feel like work, “we laugh a lot together and a really family relationship has developed,” said the actress. In a few weeks, the first 30 episodes of “Country Doctor’s Practice” will be in the box. The episodes are scheduled to air daily at 7 p.m. from October.
