Florence Pugh revealed that the director Christopher Nolan apologized to her for the size of her role in oppenheimer.
The actress is part of the historical drama as Jean Tatlocka figure of the communist party who maintained a sentimental relationship with the physicist J.Robert Oppenheimer (cillian murphy).
Speaking to MTV UK, Pugh explained how Nolan apologized when he was offered the role.
“I really didn’t know what was going on or what was being done,” Pugh said. “Except I knew Chris really wanted me to know it wasn’t a huge role and he understands if I don’t want to get close to him. And I was like, ‘It doesn’t matter. Even if I’m a coffee maker in a cafe in the back of the room, let’s do it.’”
Pugh met Nolan in New York while filming Zach Braff’s A Good Person to discuss his role in Oppenheimer, which he remembers as a “weird” time.
“I remember he apologized for the size of the paper. I was like, ‘Please don’t apologize’”Pugh added. “And then he said, ‘We’ll send you the script and honestly, just read it and decide if it’s like… I fully understand the size thing.’
“And I remember that night when I got the script, I said, ‘I don’t need to do it… I know I’m going to do it.'”
Oppenheimer’s record in theaters
Oppenheimer has made history by being the highest-grossing film of all time in the United States that has never reached the top spot at the box office.
Christopher Nolan’s latest film has become the fourth highest-grossing film of the year, surpassing 700 million dollars in worldwide box office, since its fifth week of release.
