The former singer of one direction, Liam Paynepostponed his South American tour in September due to a kidney infection.
In an Instagram post and video today, Payne says he has been hospitalized for the past week. “With a severe kidney infection, it’s something I wouldn’t wish on anyone, and the doctors’ orders are that I now need to rest and recover.”
“I was beyond excited to come play for you guys,” Payne writes before apologizing to ticket buyers and directing them to contact outlets for refunds.
The tour was scheduled for September 1-12 with stops in Lima, Bogotá, Santiago, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires and Mexico City. The British artist was going to perform on September 9 at the Movistar Arena.
In the video, Payne says that he had already started rehearsals for the tour when doctors advised him not to tour. “Hopefully we can put on an even bigger and better show,” he says, vowing to reschedule the dates.
