Chico and his girlfriend share what went wrong on the first date

When Kürsat Yildirim, better known as Chico, won almost ten million euros in the lottery last year, he immediately went public – against the advice and security concerns of all experts. The Dortmund native appeared regularly in media reports and on television, and is now very active on Instagram and YouTube.

His new girlfriend Candice seems to want to do the same. A few weeks ago, the couple made their relationship public. Since then, the Dortmund chief inspector has appeared in public with Chico, they give joint interviews, and she also gives many insights into her private life on her Instagram channel. Now the two have started a new joint project as “Chico Candy” – a podcast entitled “Between Dürüm and Sushi”.

In the pilot episode, Chico first explains the title: Before winning, he always ate Dürüm. “As a multi-millionaire, I eat sushi,” he says. Otherwise, the couple recapitulates the story of how they got to know each other, excerpts of which they have already told in the media. They met before he won the lottery, when Chico clashed with another man on the road and Candice intervened as a police officer: “I looked at her, red hair, she looked wonderful in that uniform.” He had already asked her for a date, but got a basket.

Later, with millions in the account and as a media star, he reported again via Instagram – quite formally: “Hello, how are you?” Even when Candice made him wait weeks with her answers, Chico remained stubborn. The first date came in December. Before he took the policewoman out to dinner, he got her a gift, a stuffed donkey from the Christmas market. However, the gift handover was at most unromantic, in a bag. “What you can’t do is give a gift beautifully,” she notes.

With a vegetarian at the steakhouse

And even on the date itself, not everything went smoothly. Chico had chosen a steakhouse – but his girlfriend is a vegetarian. “I didn’t know that,” he apologizes. In addition, she almost only had to listen, Candice remembers: “You talked on a tour.” It’s pretty much the same in the podcast, by the way. He wanted to show his beloved directly who she was dealing with – and Candice found it “super exciting”. In addition, three of Chico’s friends were sitting in the restaurant. The date “ended with five of us sitting at a table and eating dessert,” Candice said.

With a wink, Chico regrets that he tried so hard for the Dortmund police officer, after all he could have had it much easier with his new wealth: “I’m a multimillionaire right now, after four or five weeks you have a girlfriend. Before I you met, women came from Austria, Switzerland or Belgium.” He “had so much fun” before he got serious with his girlfriend. Candice puts it in a simple equation: “They wanted money, you wanted sex. Everyone got what they wanted.” But that’s over now. Chico makes a declaration of love for his partner in the podcast: “Candice is the best thing that could have happened to me in my life.”
