It was the worst day of her life: Eva Benetatou and her two-year-old son George were on board the plane that got caught in a severe storm over Ibiza. The 31-year-old describes her experiences on Instagram.
Last Sunday (August 27th) the passengers of a flight from Hamburg to Ibiza had to live through anxious minutes. The plane got caught in a severe storm over the Balearic Islands and was not given permission to land. A well-known name in Germany was also on board and, according to his own statements, suffered from double fear of death. Reality TV starlet Eva Benetatou was particularly concerned about her two-year-old son George, who had traveled with her. Benetatou reports on the events and speaks of the “worst day [ihres] life”.
Eva Benetatou worked as a flight attendant herself
“Yesterday I saw death before my eyes. I’ve never had such a blatant flight in my whole life. I’m so blatantly traumatized. You can’t imagine how bad it was,” says Benetatou, who herself has been for four years worked as a flight attendant. The plane circled Ibiza for almost an hour because it could not land due to the bad weather. The pilot’s attempt to avoid the storm went completely wrong: “We were completely shaken, shaken. Once we hit the ceiling. The plane just flew around in a confused way. […] I really thought life is over now. People were screaming and crying. Everyone thought of their children. There were some children and newborns on board.”
After landing at the alternative airport in Málaga did not work out, the decision was finally made to land in Alicante. There the plane stood on the runway for another 1.5 hours at 35 degrees before the passengers were finally able to disembark. In retrospect, she describes the experience as “pure horror”.
Eva Benetatou raises allegations
Benetatou says the plane was badly damaged after landing. “In the end we were able to see everything that was missing: on the wing, at the back. The plane was scrap.” She also alleges that the flight took place despite the storm. Other flights have been canceled or postponed, but “our captain wanted to do it at the scheduled time.” Benetatou calls this “irresponsible”.
The fact that she was on the plane at all was related to another celebrity lady. According to her own statement, Benetatou was “spontaneously invited to Ibiza” by Claudia Obert, her son’s godmother. In the end, nothing came of it; instead, after numerous further delays, Benetatou and her son started their journey home from Alicante to Düsseldorf.
