Thomas Gottschalk had repeatedly expressed skepticism about influencers. Now his own son Roman is starting a YouTube show – and reveals how he experienced his father’s popularity.
As a child, Roman Gottschalk faced the popularity of his famous father in everyday life. “So there we were in town, he picked me up from school. And then, of course, everyone came to him. Everyone wanted something from him. An autograph, a short conversation,” said the 40-year-old son of showmaster legend Thomas Gottschalk (73) the newspapers of the Funke media group.
His father complied with these requests. “My father is just the kind of person who always wanted to be accessible. That’s how people knew him from television. And that’s how he just wanted to be in reality. But I only understood that later.”
Roman Gottschalk lives in California and has recently appeared as a presenter and reporter on the YouTube show “Golf mit Gottschalk”. In the first episode he appeared together with his father. “I think it’s good that my father sees that I’m doing something too. That something has become of me,” said Roman Gottschalk.
