Gabriel Guevara arrested after arriving at festival

Nothing came of the award ceremony. When Gabriel Guevara wanted to visit the Filming Italy Festival, the police executed an international arrest warrant issued by the French judiciary.

Shortly before his planned award at a festival in Venice, the Spanish actor Gabriel Guevara was arrested in the lagoon city on alleged sexual assault. As the Italian news agency Ansa reported on Sunday, the police arrested the 22-year-old on Saturday when he arrived at the Lido. The French judiciary had therefore issued an international arrest warrant against him.

Guevara was supposed to be honored on Sunday at the Filming Italy Festival, which runs parallel to the renowned Venice Film Festival. Filming Italy organizers said the award to the star of Prime Video drama ‘Culpa Mía’ has been suspended pending the results of the investigation.

A court is due to decide whether Guevara will be extradited to France in the coming days. What exactly he is accused of there is not known.

No more invitations or prizes for Gabriel Guevara for the time being

The Venice Film Festival known as Mostra stressed that Guevara was not invited there. “Regarding press reports published on some pages in the past few hours about the arrest of the Spanish actor Gabriel Guevara, the Venice Biennale makes it clear that his stay in Venice is not related to any activity or production” of the traditional festival , it said in the message, which was published on the online service X, formerly Twitter.
