Living in the country or in the city? Both have their advantages and disadvantages. The fashion designer still has a suitcase in Berlin. And it should stay there for the time being.
Six years after moving from Berlin to Rhineland-Palatinate, fashion designer Harald Glööckler (56) cannot currently imagine a permanent return to the federal capital.
“No. I think it should be a mix between city and country life, ”said the artist to the German press agency. But he wants to be back on the Spree more often in the future. “In the Palatinate, I miss the pulsating life and the wild energy of the city somewhat.”
He is happy to see friends and acquaintances and previously unknown faces in the metropolis. “I think, despite my move, I can still say: I’m a Berliner.”
Glööckler was born in Maulbronn (Baden-Württemberg) and has lived in Kirchheim since 2015. The Palatinate had grounded him, he said. «Nature is good for me and my soul. But – as they say: I still have a suitcase in Berlin, it stays there, and that makes sense. “
He is currently in Berlin for two days – on his first visit in a long time he found the capital changed. “Various shops and restaurants did not survive the pandemic,” said Glööckler. But Berlin is a city that is constantly reinventing itself. “Just like me – Berlin and I have that in common.”
