The jury did not reach an agreement on the accusation of rape of a third woman. Judge Charlaine Olemdo handed down the sentence in Los Angeles Superior Court.

The case attracted attention because Masterson met the women through the Church of Scientology, and their accusers assured that the organization urged them not to contact the authorities. The Church of Scientology denied that allegation and said Masterson’s religion should not have been an issue in the case.
