The OÖN let Welser-Möst know: “A slipped disc forced me to do this. The operation was carried out in the Vöcklabruck Clinic on September 1st by an excellent team of doctors to whom I am deeply indebted. And on September 4th the histological report showed that that the tumor removed was malignant.” The first phase of treatment begins at the end of October. Welser-Möst wants to take part in the conducting he has agreed to do in 2024 – such as the concert on September 4th for Anton Bruckner’s 200th birthday with the Cleveland Orchestra in Bruckner’s birthplace of Ansfelden.
