Iris Berben hosted a refugee family from Ukraine. She now told us that in Düsseldorf.
Actress Iris Berben (73) hosted a family of three refugees from Ukraine for nine months. In the meantime, she had found a small apartment for the mother and her three-year-old son and their grandmother, Berben said on Monday evening at the Ständehaus Treff of the “Rheinische Post” in Düsseldorf. The family did not accommodate her at home, but in their apartment in Potsdam. She found the refugee family through her long-time Ukrainian make-up artist.
The ways to help refugees in Germany are “very, very difficult,” said Berben. Many refugees wanted to work, be integrated and help out in society. “And it’s made extremely complicated.”
