US rapper Macklemore wanted to celebrate at Berghain, but was not allowed in. He is not the first celebrity to be turned away from the Berlin club.
At the Lollapalooza festival in Berlin, fans celebrated the performance of rapper Macklemore (“Can’t Hold Us”). But when the American wanted to go party in the capital afterwards, he had less success.
Macklemore wanted to go to Berghain, but ultimately didn’t set foot in the legendary Berlin club. The rapper and a friend were turned away by the bouncer. “If you get rejected when you try to go to Berghain…” he wrote on his (now expired) Instagram story. Macklemore apparently took the basket with humor, at least he posted three laughing emojis.
Other celebrities didn’t come to Berghain either
It’s not for nothing that Berghain is considered the club with the toughest door in Berlin – and one of the hardest to get into in Europe. Bouncer Sven Marquardt enjoys cult status, and tips are circulating online on how you “maybe” let in. And as the Macklemore example shows, even celebrities can’t rely on being able to party at Berghain.

Berghain Berlin: These looks will take you to the hottest club in the capital
Apparently even the richest person in the world, Elon Musk, failed because of the Berghain bouncer. However, the billionaire himself claimed that he had no interest in the club himself: “At Berghain they wrote PEACE on the wall! I refused entry,” he wrote on X (then still Twitter). Britney Spears was apparently once refused entry to Berghain – apparently in the eyes of the bouncer she was wearing the wrong clothes. It is generally recommended to wear dark clothing if you want to have a chance. However, there is no official dress code.
