Three and a half years after the theft of the painting “The Parish Garden of Nuenen in Spring” by Vincent van Gogh, the work of art has resurfaced in the Netherlands. Detective Arthur Brand, known as the “Indiana Jones of the art world,” rescued the oil painting in collaboration with government investigators, Dutch police said Tuesday. According to Brand, the painting was handed over to Brand on Monday in a blue Ikea bag. It was “one of the greatest moments of my life,” said the detective. It is unclear who gave him the work of art. The thief of the picture was identified using DNA evidence. In September 2021 he was sentenced to eight years in prison.
