The Invictus Games are a real affair of the heart for her husband Prince Harry, and it is also his birthday next Thursday, September 14th. Reason enough for Duchess Meghan to travel from overseas and support her husband.
The American Meghan, who was born in California, was of course really excited about the typical US sport of basketball. The Invictus Games basketball games have only one small difference: they are played by war veterans in wheelchairs. The Invictus Games are a sporting competition based on an idea by Prince Harry.

The prince, who himself served twice in combat missions for Great Britain in Afghanistan, had several injured comrades on board on a return flight home from the war zone. On this flight he came up with the idea of organizing a sporting event for mentally or physically injured soldiers in the future.
The games celebrated their premiere in 2014, and the Invictus Games are now an established format that found their home in Düsseldorf this year. The German Bundeswehr and Federal President Fank-Walter Steinmeier are supporting the event on site and Prince Harry himself will also be present throughout the week. The Invictus Games run until September 16th, when they will be bid farewell in the evening with a big event at which Rita Ora will also perform.
Duchess Meghan, who is often socially committed, has also been supporting her husband and the local athletes since Tuesday. She wowed the basketball hall in Düsseldorf in a summery outfit in which she combined a blazer and hot pants. An outfit that she would never have been able to wear because of the freedom of movement if she were still an active member of the royal family.
