Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit cannot travel to Sweden for the upcoming throne jubilee as planned. She is on sick leave – for at least two weeks.
The Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit (50) is on sick leave – and therefore will not take part in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the throne of the Swedish King Carl XVI. Gustaf (77) will take part at the weekend. The Norwegian royal family announced this on Thursday.
The sick note is initially valid for two weeks, but can be extended. That is why Mette-Marit will not take part in a trip to Western Norway with her husband, Crown Prince Haakon (50). This is planned for the end of September.
Mette-Marit has canceled appointments several times in recent years for health reasons. The Norwegian princess suffers from pulmonary fibrosis – a chronic lung disease that can lead to, among other things, shortness of breath. In its current announcement, the palace points out that Mette-Marit’s illness can sometimes prevent her from carrying out her official duties.
