Not because of competition: The actresses Salma Hayek (57) and Angelina Jolie (48) have been close friends for many years and have repeatedly supported each other in their careers. In an interview with “Entertainment Tonight”, Hayek gave an insight into the unusual Hollywood friendship.
“She has enriched my life in many ways”
In the conversation, moderator Nischelle Turner (48) wanted to know from the actress what she valued most about her friendship with Jolie. “Everything,” Hayek then enthused. “She has enriched my life very, very much in many ways – as mothers, you know. And especially as artists.” She went on to say that as the years go by, the women “grow closer and closer together.” The pleasant thing is that their connection is “simply natural”: “It’s just something that flows.”
The friends spend a lot of time together, and not just privately. In 2021, the two starred together in the Marvel film “Eternals.” Hayek also appeared in Jolie’s film “Without Blood,” which has not yet been released. Already last year, Jolie was “the best director I have ever worked with”. She “absolutely loved working with her and enjoyed every second of it.”
Birthday and film premiere
This month Salma Hayek celebrated two big events: On September 2nd she turned 57 years old. She celebrated her 55th anniversary two years ago with Jolie. On September 13, Hayek premiered her new film “El Sabor de la Navidad” at the Toronto International Film Festival. The Christmas-themed film follows three interwoven love stories that take place in and around Mexico City. “The Christmas season is also a great opportunity for us to look at ourselves and develop the courage to say ‘I love you’ to people we find difficult to say,” said the actress.
