HISTORY EXPLORES A NEW TERRITORY
“There is still a lot about Hawkeye that we haven’t explored. The series allows us to show a new side of Clint Barton,” explains series executive producer Trinh Tran. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) showed Barton losing his family in the blip and unloading his pain, anger and sadness on all the villains on the planet. Bert from the Bert & Bertie directing team, who directs three episodes of the series, says that Hawkeye’s recent past is the root of the new series. “He suffered a huge loss, both on the blip and when he lost Natasha. THREE DIRECTORS ARE IN FRONT OF THE SERIES
Marvel Studios brought together three filmmakers to carry out the new series. Along with Bert, they complete Hawkeye’s directorial trio Rhys Thomas and Bertie. In the story, Barton is in New York City because he has been invited to see a musical about Steve Rogers. Building on this script element, the series’ creative team faced the unique challenge of creating a large-scale musical within the series. “This musical is a true gift to Broadway. It is possibly the best musical ever written. Unfortunately, we only include a fragment in the series, but I assure you that it is the most extraordinary piece of musical theater ever imagined, ”says Thomas. An extra piece of information? The music for the fictional work is created by renowned songwriting duo Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, creators of iconic titles such as Hairspray, Smash and The Return of Mary Poppins.
HAILEE STEINFELD SHARES DOUBLE RISK WITH SCARLETT JOHANSSON
To put herself in the shoes of a character who is considered the best archer in the world, Steinfeld underwent extensive and varied training. After training and taking her first archery classes in Los Angeles, the actress landed on set and put herself in the hands of Heidi Moneymaker, coordinator of the Hawkeye stunts team. Moneymaker is Steinfeld’s stunt double on the show and has played the same role for actress Scarlett Johansson, portraying Black Widow in stunts from IRON MAN 2 to the recent BLACK WIDOW. Notes Steinfeld: “It was so wonderful and patient. Many times a fight sequence seems incredibly intricate and very overwhelming and intimidating.
