Ex-BVB star Kevin Großkreutz and his wife Carolin have separated. That is the reason for the surprising end of love.
Only a year ago they got married in church, now everything is over: soccer world champion Kevin Großkreutz (35) and his wife Carolin (27) have separated. She has already moved out of their shared house. “Yes, it’s true, Caro and I are no longer a couple.” The two have been going their separate ways for three months.
The 2014 soccer world champion initially married his wife in a civil ceremony four years ago. Last year, the two also exchanged vows in church – in front of around 150 invited guests in a solemn ceremony in the St. Remigius Church in Dortmund.
“The most important thing is that the kids don’t suffer”
Now Großkreutz says: “In life things often turn out differently than you plan. We simply grew apart.”
The footballer and his wife have children Leonie (6) and Linus (4) together. They should continue to have top priority. Großkreutz: “Caro and I divide up the time with them exactly. The most important thing for both of us is that the kids don’t suffer. And they can always enjoy the affection of their parents to the same extent.”
The Dortmund native regularly shares photos in which he can be seen with his children – with his daughter when she starts school or in the football stadium.
Großkreutz, who now plays football in the Westphalia league and runs a restaurant, makes one thing very clear: the reason for the separation has nothing to do with new partners – neither for him nor for his wife.
