They were on the guest list for the state banquet for Charles and Camilla at Versailles: Mick Jagger and Hugh Grant. But why?
Mick Jagger (80), frontman of the British rock band The Rolling Stones, and the British actor Hugh Grant (63) took part as prominent guests at the state banquet of French President Emmanuel Macron (45) and his wife Brigitte Macron (70) for King Charles last Wednesday III. (74) and his wife Queen Camilla (76) took part in the Palace of Versailles. But why were the two Brits invited to the ceremony in France?

Jagger traveled to the state banquet with girlfriend Melanie Hamrick (36) from his French estate, the Château de Fourchette. It is located in the commune of Pocé-sur-Cisse in the Indre-et-Loire department and is said to have been in Jagger’s possession since the early 1980s. The musician spends his holidays there, celebrated his 70th birthday on the property and is said to have gone into Corona isolation there.
In 2003, Jagger was knighted by the then Prince Charles for his “services to popular music.” He expressed his connection to the royals several times on social media. On the death of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022), he wrote in a tweet: “Throughout my life, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was always there. I remember watching her wedding highlights on television as a child “I remember her as a beautiful young lady, the nation’s much-loved grandmother. My deepest condolences go out to the royal family.”
Hugh Grant, who came with wife Anna Elisabet Eberstein, also owns a home in France. “It’s the only place where I’m nice and happy,” joked the actor about his stays in Provence in April 2023 by Stephen Colbert (59). “There’s a breed of Brit who is just enchanted by anything French. It doesn’t matter what it is, I just love it.” Hugh Grant is said to be able to trace his family tree back to the Scottish King James IV and the English King Henry VII, making him the Queen’s 9th cousin.
