Only family and close friends will attend the funeral of the shot “Rust” cameraman Halyna Hutchins.
The camerawoman Halyna Hutchins (1979-2021), who was killed on the “Rust” set, will be buried in a private ceremony this weekend. Only the family and close friends will be present when the ashes of the deceased filmmaker are buried in an unspecified location, a family spokesman told People magazine.
“Halyna was the love of my life”
“Halyna was the love of my life, and her loss destroyed our family’s dreams,” said Hutchins’ husband, attorney Matthew Hutchins, 38, in a statement also made available to the magazine. “We have felt the silence since it was gone forever as a suffocating silence in our house,” he said of himself and the couple’s 9-year-old son, Andros.
“Our love and admiration for her grows as we tell her story, and we hope that her work can inspire filmmakers and storytellers around the world. We thank the many generous supporters who have been so caring during this time of loss,” it continues.
A photo of Halyna’s tombstone was also given to the magazine. It says: “Halyna Hutchins, ASC, 1979-2021” and “Your light shapes our lives, keep following your vision”. A camera and a roll of film can also be seen.
Shot at a rehearsal
Halyna Hutchins was shot dead on the set of Rust on October 21, after lead actor and producer of the western Alec Baldwin, 63, fired a gun while rehearsing a scene in a church.
