A birth on the moon in just a few years? Tom Hanks thinks that’s possible. According to the US actor, this would be the “next big moment in human evolution”.
Hollywood star and space fan Tom Hanks (“Forrest Gump”) can imagine that the first birth will take place on the moon in just a few years. This would be the “next big moment in human evolution,” the US actor told BBC Radio 4.
One day a woman will become pregnant on the moon, and then sending her back to Earth won’t be the best idea in the world. “Perhaps the best solution then is to leave them up there and welcome the first truly alien-born human,” he said.
Hanks played astronaut Jim Lovell in the Hollywood film “Apollo 13” and wrote the line “Houston, we have a problem!” Film history.
The 67-year-old is currently promoting a new exhibition entitled “The Moonwalkers” about the US space agency Nasa’s lunar missions, which is scheduled to open in London in December and in whose conception and implementation he was involved. The Artemis space program should also play a role in this. As part of the Artemis missions, NASA wants to, among other things, bring a woman to the moon for the first time in the coming years and also establish a longer presence there.
