Prince Harry must “announce himself to the palace in good time” in the future

After Prince Harry was recently denied a room at Windsor Castle, the palace is apparently setting new rules for his visits. Nothing will happen in the future without a formal announcement.

Spontaneous stays in the residences of the British Crown are off the table for Harry and Meghan in the future. According to a report in the Telegraph, which cites palace sources, the Sussexes, whether as a couple or alone, will have to register “in good time” if they want accommodation through the palace.

Request for accommodation was rejected

The change follows a rather unpleasant experience in recent weeks. When Prince Harry wanted to stay at Windsor Castle for the Wellchild Awards, his spontaneous request for a room was rejected. It was said that there were no properties available “in the short term”. Harry therefore spent the night in the hotel.

The Telegraph writes that this will not make it impossible for the prince and his wife to visit Harry’s homeland, but it will be significantly more difficult. Spontaneous visits are almost off the table – unless Harry takes care of his own accommodation.

Prince Harry visited Queen Elizabeth II’s grave.

Harry was also unable to see his father, King Charles III, on his trip to Great Britain. After the couple’s offices looked at their whereabouts and schedules, they discovered that there was hardly any time left for the two of them to meet.

At least Harry was able to pay a visit to his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. It is said that the prince drove privately to the Queen’s grave and was seen by local residents.

The “timely registration” to accommodate in Crown buildings follows the withdrawal of Frogmore Cottage. In March it was announced that King Charles III. deprives the Sussexes of their British home and wants to offer it as a new residence to the disgraced Prince Andrew, who can no longer afford his current one due to his reduced financial support from the Crown.

The Sunday Times reports that a friend of the prince said he knew that Harry in particular wanted some kind of base in his homeland. “Meghan seems to have decided she doesn’t want to come back, but Harry would like to. Having a base in his home country, despite everything that’s happened, is tempting,” he explained.
