TV journalist Matt Doran got the chance to meet Adele for an interview. But the Australian embarrassed himself tremendously: Because he hadn’t heard her album, Adele got up and left the room.
Fans and critics have waited six years for singer Adele’s new album. The 33-year-old had recently made herself rare, barely appeared in public and separated from her husband Simon Konecki. Adele now has all of these experiences, especially her divorce, in her work “30” processed, which appeared a few days ago.
In the US she spoke to talk show host Oprah Winfrey about her new songs. Australian reporter Matt Doran also got the chance to meet Adele for an exclusive chat – and screwed it up.
Like the British newspaper “The Daily Telegraph” reports, the TV journalist flew with his crew to London in early November to meet Adele there. On his Instagram account, Doran proudly posed with a camera and commented: “It will be something very special.”
Adele was pissed off because Matt Doran didn’t know her album
The meeting with Adele was scheduled for 20 to 30 minutes. But Doran didn’t ask a single question about the artist’s new record during this time. Worse still: He is said to have even said that he was going to get the album “30” didn’t even listen.
Then Adele got up indignantly and left the room – the interview was over. The statements made up to then were deleted by their record company Sony. Doran wasn’t allowed to spend a minute of the interview on the TV show “7NEWS Spotlight” use.
The Australian broadcaster Channel7 paid a million dollars for an Adele package. In addition to the unsuccessful individual interview, this also includes the rights to broadcast the Oprah Winfrey interview and Adele’s appearance at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. The Oprah talk and concert are due to be broadcast on Channel7 on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. local time.
Matt Doran, on the other hand, was put on leave for two weeks after his failed performance and the botched Adele interview.
