Pop star Madonna celebrated her son David Banda’s 18th birthday. This is shown by photos of the party on Instagram.
Madonna’s (65) son David Banda (18) is of age. The adopted child, who the singer shares with ex-partner and director Guy Ritchie (55), turned 18 on September 24th. After the pop icon celebrated her son’s 17th birthday at a concert by singer Harry Styles (29) last year, this time a lavish private celebration was on the program.
“You shine like the brightest star!”
A video of the event, at which David Banda’s younger sibling Mercy James (16) and twins Stella and Estere (11) were also present, . “You are growing into a truly remarkable person! We are all so proud of you! You shine like the brightest star!” wrote the 65-year-old on the social network as text accompanying the party recordings.
Only Madonna’s eldest children are missing from the celebration
Only daughter Lourdes Leon (26), whose father is ex-fitness trainer Carlos Leon (57), and son Rocco Ritchie (23), whom Madonna also shares with her ex-husband Guy Ritchie, cannot be seen in the video of the birthday party. The singer, who only had to cope with a serious infection at the end of June, dances exuberantly with her son in the clip.
“I can’t believe it’s been almost 18 years since we met you in Mchinji at the Home of Hope orphanage,” she wrote on Instagram. “Senzangakona,” her son’s tribal name, would mean “tell the truth,” and the pop star “couldn’t think of a better name for an artist.”
Madonna celebrated her 65th birthday in August
Madonna celebrated her own 65th birthday with all her children in Lisbon just around a month and a half ago – and also from this celebration. “It’s great to be alive,” she said at the time.
The singer was taken to a New York hospital at the end of June. There she was given artificial ventilation in the intensive care unit. Her manager Guy Oseary, 50, said Madonna had “developed a serious bacterial infection, which led to a stay in intensive care for several days.”
The singer then recovered with her family. “Love from family and friends is the best medicine,” she wrote in late July. When things got tough, her children were really there for her.
