Mick jagger has hinted at the idea that the catalog of Rolling Stones goes to charity instead of leaving it to their children “who don’t need it.”
In a new interview with the Wall Street Journal, the Stones frontman shared that he has no plans to sell the band’s post-1971 catalog and suggested it could end up going to charity. “Children (referring to their children) do not need 500 million dollars to live well. Come on”said.
“Maybe you’ll do something good in the world,” he added after revealing possible plans for music.
Jagger has eight children. Karis is his first daughter with the actress Martha Hunt now 52, he was born in 1970. A year later, his second daughter, Jade, 51, was born with his ex-wife Bianca Jagger.
She later had four children with the model Jerry Hall: Elizabeth, 39, Georgia May, 31, James, 38, and Gabriel, 25. In 1999, he welcomed a son, Lucas, 24, with the model Luciana Gimenez Morad. Jagger’s youngest son is Deveraux, 6, who he had with the choreographer and former dancer Melanie Hamrick.
The problem of the rights to the Rolling Stones’ first hits
Elsewhere in the interview, Jagger talked about how the Stones don’t own the copyrights to some of their biggest hits and reflected on the similarities in ownership issues that Taylor Swift had with his record label and the early music of the Stones.
“The industry was so incipient that it did not have the support or the number of people available to advise you as they do now”, he told the publication. “But you know, it still happens. I mean, look what happened to Taylor Swift! “I don’t really know the ins and outs of this, but she obviously wasn’t happy.”
Earlier this month, the legendary band announced their 24th studio album, “Hackney Diamonds”and shared their lead single, “Angry”. After “A Bigger Bang” 2005 release, the album will mark the Stones’ first release of original music in 18 years.
