For the single “Better Place” Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and JC Chasez were together again in Studio.London after a long time. “If the stars are right,” commented Timberlake (42). “I gathered my brothers back in the studio to work on something fun and the energy was special.” His bandmate Lance Bass reported emotional scenes at the reunion. “There were a lot of tears, but they were tears of joy,” the 44-year-old told the music magazine “NME”. “It just feels right.”

It remains to be seen whether the reunion of the boy band, which became popular worldwide in the late 1990s with hits such as “Tearin’ Up My Heart”, “It’s Gonna Be Me” and “Bye Bye Bye”, is long-term. “We don’t have any concrete plans at the moment,” said Bass. “But the fans definitely influence our future.”

NSYNC reunion?

About two weeks ago, NSYNC made a surprise appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards. The quintet presented superstar Taylor Swift with an award there. This raised hopes among fans for a permanent NSYNC reunion and gave rise to rumors of a tour. On the band’s Instagram account, many called for a live comeback.

The group, founded in Orlando, Florida, broke up in 2002 at the height of their career. The former members then went their separate ways. Timberlake started a solo career (“Cry Me A River”) with great success and made a few films. JC Chasez also tried his hand at solo artistry and wrote songs for the Backstreet Boys. Joey Fatone is active as an actor (“My Big Fat Greek Wedding”). Lance Bass took part in reality shows and worked as a voice actor for animated television series. Chris Kirkpatrick tried his hand at being a country singer, among other things, but largely withdrew from the public eye.

With “Better Place”, NSYNC provide the title song for the film “Trolls – Strong Together” (original title: “Trolls Band Together”), which opens in Austrian cinemas on October 19th. In the original English-language version of the animated musical comedy, NSYNC singer Timberlake, along with numerous other pop stars, lends his voice to one of the troll characters.
