Hugh Jackman spent over a quarter of a century with his wife Deborra-Lee Furness. The separation became official in mid-September. “We have been blessed to share a wonderful, loving marriage as husband and wife for nearly three decades,” Jackman, 54, and his wife, 67, told People magazine. The Australian actor apparently doesn’t give himself time to mourn, he’s already looking for a new love.
Jackman and Furness, who is also an actress, met in 1995 on the set of a prison series called “Corelli.” It was love at first sight. The wedding followed just a year later. In April, on the anniversary, the actor wrote an Instagram post: “I love you Deb. Today is our 27th wedding anniversary. 27 years! I love you so much.”
Now, 28 years later, the couple’s statement reads: “We approach this next chapter with gratitude, love and kindness” – but not as lovers.
Hugh Jackman wants to find love again
Just as quickly as Hugh Jackman fell in love with Furness, he hopes to find his next great love again. An acquaintance told the New Idea portal about Jackman: “Finding love again is one of his biggest priorities.” Jackmann is said to be a romantic and warm-hearted man who loves being in a relationship. The acquaintance added: “Everyone assumes that Hugh will get married again pretty quickly. He’s such a warm-hearted person and will probably fall in love with the first girl that catches his eye.”
And there are a lot of them in Hollywood at the moment, because very well-known women have recently become single again: “There’s everyone there, from Jennifer Aniston to Sofía Vergara, even Reese Witherspoon and Charlize Theron.” A number of women are already said to be interested in the newly single Jackmann: “There are countless ladies lining up around the block to go out with him,” said the source.
The actor’s friend also reveals that the separation did not happen overnight, but was a long and well-prepared process. The couple Jackmann and Furness are said to have recently had more of a friendship than a relationship. Given this advance, it may well be that Hugh Jackman is already open to finding a new love – despite a 28-year relationship with Deborra.
