The separation dispute between British actress Sophie Turner (27) and US singer Joe Jonas (34) could go to court. After a hearing at which Turner and Jonas were represented by their legal teams, a judge in New York tentatively set the trial to begin on January 2, 2024, unless an out-of-court settlement is reached before then. This emerged from a message available to the German Press Agency.
Turner and Jonas announced their separation at the beginning of September – and described the plans as a “mutual decision”. About two weeks ago, the actress called on the singer to return their two children. The daughters, born in 2020 and 2022, were being unlawfully detained in New York, the court document said.
A spokesman for the father then announced that Jonas had initiated the divorce proceedings in the US state of Florida and that the court there had already ordered that the parents were not allowed to move with their children. The children were born in the United States and mostly lived there, according to the statement available to the dpa. The court in New York agreed that the children should remain in New York until the custody dispute is resolved.
