Christmas in folk, rock and disco style: The singer has thought of something special for her new album “Christmas” and is working with famous duet partners for the first time.

Pop icon Cher doesn’t actually listen to her own music – but now she’s deviated from her habit. “I never listen to my albums. But this one, yes. I love it,” the 77-year-old told the German Press Agency in Paris, referring to her new album “Christmas.” This Friday the first single from the Christmas album, the first in their over 50-year career, will be released. The album will be released on October 20th.

Her record company (Warner Records) approached her with the idea, which she accepted on the condition that she not create a traditional Christmas album with songs like “Silent Night, Holy Night,” but one in her style, Cher said. The result: 13 songs in folk, rock, pop and disco styles.

“Christmas” is also the first album on which she sings duets, she said. She has never invited other musicians to collaborate on one of her records. It was a great last minute thing, she said. Musicians she has worked with include Michael Bublé and Stevie Wonder. The most popular Cher singles in music history include “Believe” (1998), “I Hope You Find It” (2013) and “SOS” (2018).
