The presenter says that fans rarely approach her when she goes shopping. In general she has a pleasant kind of celebrity. Only one group is bothering her.
For presenter Barbara Schöneberger, it makes no difference whether she is on the road for private purposes or is on stage for work. “I had a lot of time to get used to my celebrity status,” the 49-year-old told the German Press Agency.
She is used to moving on public land and feels comfortable with it. “My children pointed out to me that I sometimes sing in the supermarket. They found it very embarrassing.”
She is rarely approached by fans when shopping, said Schöneberger. “I live in a very quiet neighborhood. People tend to nod to each other conspiratorially: ‘I recognized you!'”
Schöneberger: pleasant kind of celebrity
She has a pleasant kind of celebrity, said Schöneberger. “Older women tend to come to me and they don’t even have a cell phone.” The worst are middle-aged men who want to take selfies. “They then enter their PIN four times, search for the photo app and then the timer counts down from ten while they hold the smartphone in one hand and the other hand works on the flesh of my hip,” she said. “When I ask what that’s about, the camera goes off. And then it says: ‘You weren’t even looking.'”
In general, selfies aren’t a must, she said: “You can walk past a celebrity without asking them about it.” Some people are even so merciless as to shout “Photo, photo” when they pick up a microphone and want to go on stage. On Saturday (8:15 p.m.) Schöneberger will again host “Do you understand fun?” on Erste.
