FP wants support for vaccine “Made in Austria”

Party and club leader Herbert Kickl therefore criticizes the fact that the government is only relying on the vaccines that are already known to contain the crisis. It is particularly regrettable that there is no special funding from Austria and no purchase guarantee for the vaccine manufacturer Valneva, who conducts research in Vienna, Kickl said in an interview with the APA.

The Austrian-French pharmaceutical company is developing a conventional vaccine that, like numerous vaccines that have been used for many years, for example against child paralysis, diphtheria and tetanus, is based on pathogens that have been killed. “It is completely incomprehensible why the government is leaving these Austrian producers out in the rain, while Great Britain and Germany have already promised high purchase quantities and are thus also significantly financing research,” says Kickl.

For the head of FP, it is “imperative of the hour” to give domestic providers special support – on the one hand to maintain or even expand jobs, and on the other hand to reduce dependence on the international market. A vaccine based on killed viruses would also be a real expansion of the range for Kickl and could also be an offer for people who are skeptical of the currently available mRNA or vector vaccines, he believes.

A conventional serum can also be expected to have significantly fewer undesirable side effects than are currently occurring at BioNtech-Pfizer or AstraZeneca, argues the Freelancer, who therefore says: “It will not be enough to drive people to the needle with social pressure and threats see that the current vaccines are not reliable and also very prone to side effects. Better offers are needed instead of scare tactics. “

According to Kickl, many people also suspect that the vaccinations currently offered will not last long and will soon have to be refreshed. In the case of a “dead vaccine”, the duration of protection should be much longer, so that a refreshment is only necessary every few years.
