The influential American TV chef and multiple Emmy winner Michael Chiarello is dead. Like his company Gruppo Chiarello, he died at the age of 61 last Saturday from anaphylactic shock after an allergic reaction.
Chiarello became internationally known, among other things, for his participation in the cooking format “Top Chef” and the spin-off “Top Chef Masters”. He received a total of three Emmy Awards in 2003 and 2006 for his own cooking show “Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello”. The chef was famous for his Italian-influenced Southern California cuisine.

In March 2016, Chiarello was in the headlines because of allegations from two former employees. Two lawsuits against Chiarello accused him of sexual harassment and labor law violations. The cases were settled in 2017 for an undisclosed sum.
