Cher raves highly about her on-off boyfriend. “He makes me laugh,” she says of Alexander Edwards, who is half her age.
US star Cher (77) and music producer Alexander “AE” Edwards (37) are not only lovers, they also work together. He produced her new track “Drop Top Sleigh Ride” on her upcoming Christmas album. “He’s a great producer”, . “I had him do ‘Drop Top Sleigh.’ It’s a difficult thing when you’re in love with someone and then you say, ‘OK, here, take this record and do whatever you want with it.’ But I had faith. And I wasn’t disappointed.”
The singer and actress also comments on her headline-grabbing romance. She’s not surprised that so many people are interested. “Alexander has diamond teeth, tattoos, white hair and is much younger. He is a beautiful man,” Cher says of her boyfriend.
Their meeting a year ago at a Paris Fashion Week event only lasted “15 minutes.” A mutual friend then gave him her number. “It was really shocking because people don’t just give out my number,” says Cher, who will release her first holiday album, “Christmas,” on October 20. “I had told all my friends, ‘We’re too old to date really younger men and I’ll never fall in love over text.'”
Cher broke her rules for AE “because he’s just so special,” she says. “I hate it when people say people are special, but a lot of people say I’m special, so I can say he’s special,” she adds. “No matter what, I love being with him. He makes me laugh and we have fun. I’ve learned that it’s never too late,” she concluded passionately. “All the statistics would say, ‘Well, that’s doomed.’ But we’ve been together for a year now, and even if it was only a year, it would have been worth it. I had the best time,” she says happily.
Label boss with a scandalous past
Cher and AE have been rumored to be lovers since November 2022. In May they separated – and got back together. At the end of September they showed their romantic comeback on the red carpet of the Balmain fashion show in Paris.
Alexander Edwards is vice president of the record label Def Jam Records. He has a three-year-old son with model Amber Rose (39). The relationship ended in 2021 because AE is said to have cheated on Rose with at least twelve women.
Cher has been married twice. From 1964 to 1975 she was in a relationship with Sonny Bono (1935-1998), with whom she had their now 54-year-old son Chaz Bono. From 1975 to 1979 she was married to Gregg Allman (1947-2017). Her prominent ex-lovers include Tom Cruise (61) and Val Kilmer (63).
