In his new film “One for the Road” Frederick plays a hard-drinking construction manager. The actor himself can also tell us a lot about the topic.
The actor Frederick Lau (“Victoria”, “Simpel”, “4 Blocks”) said he used to drink alcohol excessively. “For me, alcohol was excessive – once I started drinking, I didn’t stop,” the 34-year-old told the German edition of Playboy magazine. This has to do with his influence: “When I was 15 or 16, we had these parties in Berlin where you paid twelve euros to enter and were then allowed to drink as much as you wanted. That’s why I had alcohol at first Nothing to do with enjoyment.”
He went on to say that since he had a family, he had also changed his drinking behavior. For her, he wanted to “be at the start,” because “being drunk kills time.”
In his new film “One for the Road” (in cinemas from October 26th), Lau plays a construction manager who goes on dissolute forays into Berlin’s nightlife at night and ultimately has to give up his driver’s license due to a drunken traffic offense and in an MPU course lands. But he didn’t get drunk for the role: “No, they probably would have done it that way in the past, but I played everything completely sober.”
